Biographical history
Simon Dalby was educated at Trinity College, Dublin (BA) and the University of Victoria, Canada (MA) and holds a PhD from Simon Fraser University of British Columbia, Canada. He was Professor of Geography, Environmental Studies and Political Economy at Carleton University in Ottawa until 2012, when he joined Wilfrid Laurier University’s Balsillie School of International Affairs as professor of Geography and Environmental Studies. His research interests include climate change, environmental security and geopolitics, on which topics he has published extensively.

Summary of written submissions on planning applications 2019/80 and 2085/80 prepared for an oral hearing held in Lifford on 4 March 1981. Attached to the summary are photocopies of correspondence between Ralph Sheppard (DUC Secretary), Donegal County Planning Office, T. O’Reilly (County Secretary), D. Mackey (Acting County Secretary), the County Planning Office, An Bord Pleanala, and James P. Sweeney (Solicitor for the appellant, Irish Base Metals Ltd.). The letters relate to objections made by DUC to planning applications 2019/80, 2031/80 and 2085/80 and amendments to be made to conditions set out in the planning permissions granted by Donegal County Council. Also attached are copies of the original decisions to grant planning permissions to applications no. 2019/80 and 2085/80, and of applications by the DUC against them.
