The archival collections held at the Special Collections and Archives Department at the Glucksman Library relate to various subjects and time periods. From time to time, these collections may include language or images that reflect attitudes or beliefs of the time period when they were created, but are considered inappropriate, insensitive and/or discriminatory today.
The department is committed to highlighting such material to researchers, so that they can better educate themselves about the context of its creation. We do this by flagging potentially harmful or offensive language or images in the archival catalogue.
If you feel harmful language or imagery has been missed during the cataloguing process, please email specoll@ul.ie for review.
