Notice biographique
Hella Anna Maria Scholz was born in Berlin on 29 December 1928 as the younger of the two daughters of Bruno Scholz, a merchant in building materials, and Klara née Kaiser. She was educated in Berlin. In 1942, she met Günther Junge, a pilot with the German Luftwaffe. They remained a couple until Günther’s death in an air battle on 27 January 1944.
After the war, Hella worked as a laboratory assistant for a British military medical unit in Hannover. Here, she met her future husband, an Englishman named William Fuller. They married on 1 January 1951 at the Ploughley & Bullingdon Register Office in Oxford, and in February of that year Hella became a British citizen. She and her husband lived in Oxfordshire and had no children. Hella later moved to Penarth in Glamorgan, Wales, where she died on 31 January 2003.

Portée et contenu
Medium-sized hardback photograph album with a painting of a girl carrying a basket on her head pasted to the front cover and surrounded with lace trimming. The first page contains a sketch of a bus travelling through countryside and the images that immediately follow it were taken during a bus tour in the Harz, a highland area in Northern Germany. This is followed by photographs of Hella’s sister and three nieces at home and on holiday; the sergeants’ mess in Hannover featuring Hella’s husband and his German Shepherd; and a monument in the former concentration camp in Bergen Belsen. The last images are taken in England, mostly Oxfordshire, and include views of the village of Horspath, staff at the Wheatley Head, and domestic scenes featuring Hella’s husband, mother and mother-in-law. The final four images are of a journey from Liverpool to Ostende. The images are dated and captioned and many of the individuals named or otherwise identified. For a loose insert found inside the album, see P14/7/2/68.
