Photocopy of a letter in Dutch from Herrema to J. Venema, Nederlandse Omroep Stichting [Dutch Broadcasting Foundation], Afd. Culturele Programma’s, Postbus 10, Hilversum, Netherlands. The letter has been written following an interview with two men called Bremen and Wilson, whom Herrema had agreed to meet. In the letter, Herrema states that while he enjoyed the meeting, he still wants to maintain his original decision not to become involved in any form of publicity.

Letter from Hugh Kenner, writer, critic and author of inter alia 'Dublin’s Joyce', 512 Hunter Street West, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. In reply to a question posed by McGrath, Kenner suggest that Joyce’s talent was to some extent recognised or Dubliners would not have been accepted by the publishers in the first instance. States that he suspects that Joyce had ‘powerful ecclesiastical enemies in Dublin’ and that this may have had some bearing on why the there was a delay in the publication of Dubliners.

Letter to Walsh from J. Alden Sears, Kenilworth, Illinois. He was introduced to Walsh’s work by his colleague Mrs. Alice B. Dungan and now his fiancée has become a reader. They are to be married on 3 May and intend to spend their honeymoon in Ireland, Scotland and England. Mrs. Dungan showed him the letter Walsh wrote to her and they ‘would like to “ring you up” and have the opportunity to pay homage to the man (red headed wife an all) who has given us both so much pleasure’.
