Circular to Donegal Bacon Company members enclosing an agenda for the first annual general meeting of the company at Gallagher’s Hotel, Letterkenny on 24 April 1941, and a related directors’ report.

This sub-series contains correspondence relating to the expansion of O'Mara Limited to Athlone, Claremorris and Donegal, the liquidation and reconstruction of O'Mara Limited and the liquidation and amalgamation of various other Irish bacon companies.

[Draft?] letter from Stephen O’Mara to James J. Halpin, Wholesale Provision Merchant, 20 Thomas Street, Dublin, inviting Halpin to participate in a scheme to distribute financial interest in the Claremorris factory amongst retailers and wholesalers. With a reply of regret from Halpin and others.

Circular addressed to Mary (Moll) Rynne [née O’Mara], Greenfields, Milltown, Dublin, relating to the establishment of a bacon factory in Donegal under the guidance the Bacon Company of Ireland and the financing of the venture.

This sub-series contains correspondence relating to staffing issues.

Correspondence with James Canty, Toll Collector, Charleville, concerning his appointment to buy pigs for O’Mara Limited.

Telexes to and from Herrema at the Ambassador Hotel, Bahamas, relating to an exclusive interview with Elseviers Magazine for their Christmas issue, and the production of a book in the form of interviews.

Letters in Dutch, mainly from Peter Post, Revu, Postbus 497, 1000 AL Amsterdam, Netherlands, relating to an article Post is writing about Herrema. Post acknowledges that Herrema has not co-operated with the story but asks him to read it prior to its publication and contact him if he finds anything objectionable in it. Also a typescript copy of the article, with handwritten corrections and queries by Herrema, and the published article entitled ‘Een Nederlander als Ierse Volkshed’ (A Dutchman as an Irish Hero), which appeared in Revu No. 47 (30 November 1987).

Letter from Isabel Conway, Koolmeeshaag 71, 3993 An Houten, Netherlands, requesting an interview with Tiede and Elizabeth Herrema for an article to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of his abduction. Also a copy of the article which appeared in the Irish Independent on 30 September 1995.
