The discussions revolve in the main around the delivery of food, clothes and books to the house under siege; toilet arrangements; a demand letter issued by Coyle and Gallagher; a letter of guarantee from the Garda Commissioner that lenience would be exercised in their sentencing; Wren’ own guarantees to speak in favour of the kidnappers; and Herrema’s pleas for his safety. The conversations culminate in Coyle and Gallagher’s surrender on 7 November. The quality of the tapes varies from very good to very poor.
