Assorted handwritten notes copied by Charles Vincent O’Malley from various books relating to the O’Malley clan.

Documents originally contained in a small binder labelled ‘Charles O’Malley 1896-1968 writings’. These comprise primarily memoir-style personal recollections by Charles Vincent O’Malley; description of the scenery and history of the Shannon estuary written on a sheet writing paper bearing the Limerick Regional Hospital letterhead; and photocopies of newspaper articles relating to the death and funeral of Patrick O’Malley in 1910, to which is attached the business card of Michael J. O’Malley, with a note on the reverse stating ‘Charles, this may be of interest to you’. In two folders.

Attested copy of a conveyance dated 26 August 1797 between Edmond [Henry] Viscount Pery of the 1st part; and Anthony Lefroy and Alexander Torrance church wardens of the Parish of Saint Michael’s in the Liberties of the City of Limerick of the 2nd part of the plot of ground, described in an attached map, containing 142 feet in length and 118 feet in breadth being part of South Priors lands in the South Liberties of the city of Limerick whereon a chapel has lately been built in length 72 feet and in breadth 48 feet. Term: forever. Conditions: the yearly rent of one peppercorn if demanded. No grave shall be made or erected or a person or persons buried in any part of the said premises at any time. A yearly rent of £300 sterling is payable in case any person shall be so buried.

Attested copy report of the court of the Exchequer dated 14 February 1820 in the case of Magennis v. Moore concerning arrears of an annuity of £670 due to the plaintiff. Item no. 17 on P15/1/2/2/1; used as evidence for P15/1/2/1/1.

Audio tape containing two interviews with Tom Tobin. Side A contains an interview broadcast on a Radio Luimní ‘Community Roundabout’ programme the week after the visit of Pope John Paul to Limerick in late October, 1979. Condell gives her view on the visit and what it meant for her. The interview also refers to highlights of Condell’s mayoralty, in particular the visits of President Kennedy, Mayor Dick Daley of Chicago, Cardinal Browne, Kenneth Kaunda of Zambia, and Senator Ted Kennedy. Side B contains an interview apparently taped at Condell’s home. Condell recalls events from her childhood, her love of literature and the Irish language, her marriage, the war years, her involvement in the Red Cross as a volunteer and later as a paid organiser, and her involvement with the National Blood Transfusion Service. The interview terminates abruptly as the tape ends.

Audio tape marked ‘M. Collins’. Side A contains sundry casual recordings of popular music and radio advertisements. Side B contains a recording of the RTÉ Radio programme ‘Seascapes’ from December 1980, in which Tom McSweeney interviews Captain Richard Farrell, the last surviving Irish holder of a master’s certificate for a large sailing vessel. Captain Farrell recalls rounding Cape Horn under sail on two occasions, the landing of Munster Fusiliers and other soldiers at Suvla Bay near Gallipoli during the First World War, the danger posed by submarines, and his career as Harbour Master in Waterford.
