Medium-sized hardback photograph album with cardboard covers containing black and white photographs taken during a trip to visit the Jensen family on the North Sea island of Föhr. Images feature the Jensen homestead, farm animals and farming activities, members of the Jensen family, some of them in traditional Friesian costume, and scenic views of the island and the surrounding sea. Also images of an outing to Blankenese (in the western part of Hamburg). Most images have been captioned and individuals named or otherwise identified.

These include images of the house in which she lived in 1946-1947, the Jäger family in Spandau (a suburb of Berlin); the British Military Hospital and its staff in Berlin; her mother and her niece Helga; London and her future husband; a sports festival in Hakenfelde in the summer of 1947; water polo; visit to the zoo and a circus; and Hella with an German Shepherd. The images are dated and many contain captions, some in English.

Medium-sized hardback photograph album containing black and white photographs of a summer holiday at Lake Tegel in Berlin; Hella’s parents; there are also aerial and other views of Berlin showing extensive war damage; exterior and interior views of the house in Spandau, Berlin in which Hella lived between November 1947 and July 1948 and of the house in Hannover in which she lived from August 1948; her sister, brother-in-law and nieces; the British Military Hospital in Hannover; a visit to the zoo; and a holiday on the Masch Lake. The images are dated and captioned and many of the individuals named or otherwise identified.

Medium-sized hardback photograph album with a painting of a girl carrying a basket on her head pasted to the front cover and surrounded with lace trimming. The first page contains a sketch of a bus travelling through countryside and the images that immediately follow it were taken during a bus tour in the Harz, a highland area in Northern Germany. This is followed by photographs of Hella’s sister and three nieces at home and on holiday; the sergeants’ mess in Hannover featuring Hella’s husband and his German Shepherd; and a monument in the former concentration camp in Bergen Belsen. The last images are taken in England, mostly Oxfordshire, and include views of the village of Horspath, staff at the Wheatley Head, and domestic scenes featuring Hella’s husband, mother and mother-in-law. The final four images are of a journey from Liverpool to Ostende. The images are dated and captioned and many of the individuals named or otherwise identified. The bottom margin bears the sitter’s signature. With a brown envelope marked ‘On her Majesty’s Service’ in which the picture was originally contained.
