Historia biográfica
Richard ‘Dick’ Cameron was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1929. He came to Ireland in the mid-1950s and was heavily involved in the folk revival of the 1960s and 1970s and instrumental in the establishment of the An Góilín Singers Club, founded by Tim Dennehy and Dónal de Barra in 1979. His warm baritone made him popular on the radio, where he hosted the Ballads of a Saturday series on Radio Telefís Éireann and appeared in many other folk music programmes. He died in Dublin in 1997.

Audio reel containing a home recording of Dick Cameron and David Hammond singing and playing songs singly and together. The songs included on the reel are ‘Come All Ye Tramps and Hawkers’, ‘Whiskey in a Jar’ (short fragment only), ‘Ploughman Lads’, ‘Juice of the Barley’ (short fragment only), ‘The Hills of Granemore (The Hare of Granemore)’, ‘The Leaving of Liverpool (Fare Thee Well, My Own True Love)’, ‘The Jolly Tinker’, ‘Be Kind to Belfast’, song beginning with the line ‘Come all you loyal Orangemen and in full chorus join’ and ‘The Aughalee Heroes’. Sound quality is variable and often poor. Duration 00:20:29.
