Portée et contenu

Plan and elevation of the old 14-arch Thomond Bridge in Limerick city to the scale of 1:250 by James Pain, dated September 1814. The plan includes a key to the lines and shading used on the drawing and a key to numbers on the plan. The plan, presumably commissioned by Limerick Corporation, appears to have been drawn up as part of a survey to identify repairs and improvements to be made to the bridge. The dates ‘April 1834’ and ‘July 1842’ have been added to the plan in two different hands in pencil, corresponding roughly with the dates of construction of the new Thomond Bridge between 1836 and 1840.
