The first mention to this accountancy firm appears in the newspapers in 1905, when it operated under the name C. W. Metcalfe & Co. In November 1920, Hugh Lilburn took over the practice. In 1941, he and his colleague James Leslie Enright were made full partners and the company name was changed accordingly to Metcalfe, Lilburn and Enright on 23 May 1941. It was one of the leading accountancy firms in Limerick city in the mid-1900s. In 1976, the firm merged with Craig Gardner & Co., which was subsequently absorbed into Price Waterhouse Coopers.

The artists’ association ) + ( = a O (spoken: Convex and Concave Equals a Sphere) was co-founded by performance artist Ursula Mawson-Raffalt and fine arts artist Anthony J. Faulder-Mawson in 1993. The collective is known particularly for the avant-garde nature of its work and unique artistic language, combining text, dance, sound, painting, light, and film. The collective’s performance installations have been shown in Israel, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Romania, Wales, and Ireland and have been the recipients of numerous grants and awards in Ireland and abroad.

Maiden Voyage Dance Company was established in 2001 by dancer Nicola Curry (now the company’s Artistic Director) to bring the best of contemporary dance performance to audiences across Northern Ireland and beyond. In addition to producing touring commissions, the company offers a range of tailor-made education and outreach opportunities in the form of masterclasses, residencies, workshops, and lectures, including the Leap Forward initiative to promote positive mental health. The company is also dedicated to developing dance skills through various mentoring initiatives and professional development courses. Maiden Voyage remains Belfast’s only professional contemporary dance company.
